Fashion Forward: Textiles and Fashion Design

Fashion Forward: Textiles and Fashion Design

Do you have an eye for fashion and design? Are you interested in learning more about the business, science, or technological aspects of the textiles and apparel industry, from product design and development to promotion and public relations? Would you like to surround yourself with others who share your passion for fashion? If so, then Fashion Forward: Textiles and Fashion Design is the perfect Learning Community for you.

As part of this Learning Community, you’ll have the opportunity to take a comprehensive look at the field of textiles, merchandising, and fashion design. You’ll learn about textile science, from fiber composition and dye chemistry to final product, and explore technologies such as computer-aided design, pattern drafting programs, and the machinery used in textile production. Through visits to local fashion boutiques and networking opportunities with industry professionals, you’ll also discover more about the business side of the field. You’ll have conversations with owners, operations managers, buyers and merchandisers at apparel businesses, and have the chance to experience events such as Omaha Fashion Week with others who share your enthusiasm for fashion and design.
