Your success as a Husker starts with prioritizing your well-being so that you can bring your best self to the classroom, your extracurriculars, and your social circle. Into the Outdoors is an intentional Themed Community designed to help you explore what well-being means for you, with a special focus on outdoor activities. Research suggests that spending time in nature can result in increased psychological well-being, but at the same time, opportunities for experiences in nature are decreasing in quantity and quality for many people (Bratmann et al., 2019).
Into the Outdoors collaborates with Campus Recreation, the School of Natural Resources, and other partners at Nebraska to provide a variety of opportunities to get outside and be in nature. This Themed Community can be found making s’mores around a campfire, taking bike rides to the UNL Dairy Store, canoeing and kayaking along Nebraska’s rivers, and hiking and spending time together. With programming to elevate both physical and mental health, individuals in Into the Outdoors will support one another through a shared commitment to living in wellness together.
