Where are Learning Communities Housed?

Learning Communities are housed in residence halls on both City and East Campus, allowing students to interact with their community and ensuring a built-in support system right where they live. In most cases, Learning Communities are housed together on the same floor of their residence hall.

Roommate Finder

Roommate Finder is an online platform where future residents can browse potential roommate options and message with individuals who may appear to be a good match. This allows students to communicate and build a connection prior to committing to a roommate pair. Also, students are able to search for specific individuals who they may know already to create a verified roommate pair.

Once a student completes their Housing Application, they will immediately gain access to the Roommate Finder and begin looking for a potential roommate. We highly recommend individuals apply to a Learning Community or join a Themed Community prior to browsing through Roommate Finder.

In Roommate Finder, individuals will be able to see which Learning Community others have applied to or which Themed Communities others have joined on their profiles. This allows students to narrow down which individuals they can choose as roommates before committing to a roommate pair. A reminder that students are only able to select other individuals who have also joined the same Learning or Themed Community as a roommate.

For Learning Communities:

After April 4, once Learning Community confirmations are sent out, students will automatically be pre-sorted into their Learning Community in Roommate Finder, if that student has been admitted. If students have not made a roommate pair prior to this time, they will have until May 1 when Roommate Finder closes to create a roommate pair. If not, students will be placed with someone from their Learning Community or an adjacent Learning Community.

For Themed Communities:

In Roommate Finder, after a student has joined a Themed Community, they will automatically be pre-sorted into their Themed Community. Since there is no application, students are auto-admitted so long as there is space available. If a student goes into Roommate Finder very early in the process, they may not see many options for their Themed Community roommate. Students should check back occasionally throughout the process to see new options as not everyone will complete the Housing Application early.
