There are so many careers options in the world of animal science, but which is the match for you and what steps do you need to get there? Through Discover Companion Animal and Equine Careers you will take part in opportunities to help you gain a variety of experiences and provide interactions with different animals, such as companion animals, horses, and zoo animals, to help guide your path to your future career!
This Learning Community will particularly appeal to you if you have a passion for animals, but do not necessarily want to pursue veterinary medicine. You will be supported by faculty, staff, and your fellow peers as you explore a variety of majors and career possibilities, all while maintaining a focus on contact with animals.
By participating in the community, you have the opportunity to engage in a wide variety of exclusive academic, career, and social activities throughout the year alongside your peers. Some of those activities may include visiting with therapy animals to destress and learn from the trainers to touring Omaha's Henry Doorly Zoo and Aquarium, Oxbow Animal Health, and Nebraska Wildlife Rehab to exploring local animal-related non-profits such as Nebraska Humane Society, Heartland Equine Therapeutic Riding Academy (HETRA), or Raptor Recovery.
Learn more about the Companion Animal Science and Equine Science options through UNL's College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources (CASNR) Animal Science program.
